Ryan Roberts of the Arizona Diamondbacks was named as a
member of the 2011 MLB All-Star team headed to the far east
to take on the Chinese Taipei national team in this year’s
Taiwan All-Star Series.

The Taiwan All-Star Series will consist of five games played
over a six-day span in three different Chinese cities.

Roberts was named on Friday as one of 19 members of the MLB
squad, which also features 2011 All-Stars Robinson Cano and
Curtis Granderson of the New York Yankees, Detroit infielder
Miguel Cabrera and Pablo Sandoval of the San Francisco
Giants. Further additions to the MLB roster are
forthcoming.

The MLB team will be managed by San Francisco skipper Bruce
Bochy.

Roberts just finished up a career season for the D-backs in
which he hit 19 home runs, drove in 65 runs and hit .249 in
143 contests.
