Diamondbacks re-sign Lyle Overbay

Dec 10, 2011, 1:04 AM | Updated: 1:25 am

The Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to terms with free agent
first baseman Lyle Overbay
on a one-year contract.

Overbay, originally an 18th-round draft pick of the
Diamondbacks in 1999, made his way back to the team in the
middle of the 2011 campaign after being waived by the
Pittsburgh Pirates.

With the D-backs, Overbay appeared in 18 games, hitting .286
with a home run and 10 runs batted in. He also appeared in
the NLDS for Arizona, starting Game 1 of the NLDS against
the Milwaukee Brewers. Overbay went 0-for-4 in the series,
which Milwaukee won in five games.
