It may look a bit different this year, but the Waste Management Phoenix Open rolls on as scheduled this week.

While fan attendance will be lower and venues scaled down significantly, the level of competition in the 2021 WMPO won’t see a drop off in talent.

And it all kicks off Thursday.

Highlighted in this year’s tournament is the addition of Rory McIlroy to the field. It marks the first appearance for McIlroy. He’ll tee it up on the back nine first at 8 a.m. with Daniel Berger and Xander Schauffele.

As for former Arizona State Sun Devil and local favorite Jon Rahm, he’ll tee off on No. 1 at 12:10 p.m. with Harris English and Justin Thomas.

That grouping will be followed by 2020 WMPO champion Webb Simpson, Gary Woodland and Hideki Matsuyama at 12:20 p.m.

Last year, Wyndham Clark led after the first round with a 62 (9-under). He’ll look to find similar success early on in the 9 a.m. grouping of Sam Burns and Erik van Rooyen. The trio starts on No. 10.

Here’s a full look of the WMPO Round 1 groupings:
