The Pac-12 released its 2021 football schedule on Tuesday, and for the Arizona State Sun Devils, there’s one favorable detail.
ASU will not play the Oregon Ducks, who are expected to challenge for the Pac-12 North, in the regular season.
Herm Edwards’ team does, however, play the Washington Huskies on the road. That game follows a hosting of the Pac-12 South favorite USC Trojans in a difficult stretch to begin November.
Arizona State went 2-2 last season but returns a majority of its starters on both sides of the ball, including quarterback Jayden Daniels.
In 2021, the Sun Devils close their season against rival Arizona on Nov. 27.
The Wildcats a year ago lost all five games they played. A 70-7 defeat at the hands of the Sun Devils led to head coach Kevin Sumlin being fired after three seasons on the job in which he posted a 9-20 record.
Arizona replaced Sumlin by hiring Jedd Fisch in December.
The Wildcats will have an early bye on Oct. 2, a week after opening the Pac-12 slate against the Ducks on the road. The Wildcats notably have two Friday night games against the Washington schools.
