D-backs GM Towers: Don’t pin offensive struggles on just Upton

May 16, 2012, 10:56 PM | Updated: May 17, 2012, 12:54 am

Justin Upton may be the face of the Diamondbacks’
offensive
struggles, but he’s not the only one having issues at the
plate.

If he was, the D-backs would be hitting better than .248
as
a team, a mark good enough for seventh in a woeful
National
League.

“We said when we got here it’s going to take 25 guys, as
it
did last year, and even more so than that, guys that come
up
and done,” D-backs GM Kevin Towers told Arizona Sports
620’s
Doug and Wolf Wednesday. “It’s not just Justin; I think
our
offensive struggles is a combination of a lot of guys.”

Towers thinks his players are “trying to do too much,”
which
shows in the lack of hits with runners in scoring
position.
