The Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday reassigned five players to Triple-A Reno and two others to minor league camp.
Infielder Andy Young and right-handed pitchers Jeremy Beasley, Humberto Castellanos, Luis Frías and Humberto Mejía were sent to Triple-A Reno.
The D-backs also reassigned left-handed pitcher Tyler Gilbert and catcher Jamie Ritchie to the team’s minor league camp.
The 26-year-old Young, along with starting pitcher Luke Weaver and catcher Carson Kelly, came to Arizona from the St. Louis Cardinals in the December 2018 Paul Goldschmidt trade.
Young was batting .125 (2-for-16) with five walks and 10 strikeouts this spring.
The 22-year-old Castellanos made one appearance and earned a save by allowing no hits while striking out one.
Beasley, 25, had given up four runs (three earned) in 2.0 innings over two spring appearances.
