Punter Andy Lee will return to the Arizona Cardinals in 2021 after signing a one-year deal, the club announced Monday.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported on March 15 that Lee had agreed to a new contract.
The 38-year-old was a steady force for Arizona in 2020, averaging 44.8 yards per punt.
In Lee’s three prior years with the Cardinals, his average has been at least 47.3 yards per punt.
While last year was the lowest average for Lee since the 2006 season, he still pinned 21 of 58 attempts inside the 20-yard line. That rate, 36%, was the highest it’s been since Lee joined the Cardinals before the 2017 season.
Lee on the special teams unit will join new veteran kicker Matt Prater, who signed a two-year deal with the Cardinals.
