Arizona Diamondbacks rookie hurler Wade Miley extended his career-best hitting streak to eight games, tying a franchise record for a pitcher.
The D-backs’ southpaw stroked an infield single in the seventh inning of a 7-1 loss to the Padres, surpassing the previous record set by Dan Haren in 2010.
Miley’s success at the plate has been a pleasant surprise but his performance on the mound has garnered the most attention.
The D-backs’ hurler put forth a solid effort through most of his 7 1/3 innings of work Friday before being charged with four runs in his second loss of the season.
Despite the defeat, Miley will take his hitting streak and a robust .429 batting average into his next start.
