Wild defenseman suspended 1 game for hit on Coyotes’ Conor Garland

Minnesota Wild defenseman Carson Soucy was suspended one game by the NHL on Wednesday for his hit on Arizona Coyotes forward Conor Garland Tuesday.
In the mid-first period, Garland moved toward the boards from the center to make a play on the puck. Soucy was arriving with only one intention in mind.

Soucy’s rough hit where he left his skates sent Garland down, where he stayed for a bit before going to the bench. Garland, of course, would stay in the game.

Soucy was given a five-minute major and the NHL’s review the following day deemed it worthy of a one-game suspension due to charging.
The one-game paycheck Soucy misses out on adds up to over $23,000 which the league will donate to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
Arizona went on to lose the game 3-0 and had a record of 0-3 in the three-game trip in Minnesota.
