For the second time during the first week of NFL free agency, the Arizona Cardinals are losing one of their own to the Carolina Panthers.

That’s because tight end Dan Arnold has reportedly signed a two-year deal worth $6 million, according to Peter Schrager.

Arnold follows in the footsteps of former Cardinals linebacker Haason Reddick, who also signed with the Panthers earlier this week.

The tight end is coming off of the best season of his four-year NFL career.

Arnold finished 2020 with 438 receiving yards, which ranked third on the Cardinals.

His four touchdown receptions were also tied for the second-most on the team, all of which came in Weeks 11-14.

The 26-year-old was primarily used as a fourth wide receiver rather than a traditional tight end in head coach Kliff Kingsbury’s offense.

However, Arnold did get 143 run-blocking reps, according to Pro Football Focus.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound tight end last season was open about how he could get much better as a run-blocker.

The Red Sea will get a chance to welcome Arnold back next season when the Cardinals hosts the Panthers at State Farm Stadium.

The only tight end currently on Arizona’s roster is Maxx Williams, as Darrell Daniels (restricted) and Seth DeValve are free agents.
