Paulie Pigskin Report: Beat down the Cardinals and they show up

Every August, I (nearly) forget my wedding anniversary. That is, until my mother-in-law calls with a not so friendly reminder, usually rehashing some malarkey about 2005, which I can’t remember either (Editor’s Note: Paulie Pigskin claims to be very busy during Cards Camp.)
That said, here’s the $$ question: where’s my mother-in-law when I really need her?
Like, um, I don’t know, how ‘bout before the Cardinals decide to topple the defending Super Bowl Champions with a rookie QB and a defense that had fans going “A Few Good Men” and ordering a Code Big Red on Sports Interactive all week.
Of course, she’d tell me it’s my responsibility. And she’s right. How could I forget what comprises the Cards’ DNA?! Especially since I’ll be gol-danged if we haven’t cracked this genetic code before, right?
I mean, it’s so simple. When the media beats ‘em down, the Cards show up.
Write ‘em off? And the Cards turn it on. Count ‘em out? And the Cards are all in.
It’s how the Cards roll. Period. Spend an entire week telling ‘em it’s over? And they’ll put a team 6 feet under.
In fact, somebody call off the search party still hunting for a team identity. We just found it. And, to think, the Cards never lost it. We just forgot.
