D-backs’ Hill excited about cycle, confident in team

Only four Diamondbacks had accomplished the feat before
him,
so it goes without saying Aaron Hill was excited about
hitting for the cycle in Monday’s 7-1 win over the
Mariners.
The second baseman, acquired by the D-backs last season,
has
been hitting the ball well in June, as his .351 average
over
15 games would attest to.
But his home run in the seventh inning Monday — which
followed a single in the first, a triple in the third and
a
double in the fifth — put his name in the history books.
“Just running around, it was a good feeling, had a little
smile on my face,” Hill told Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and
Wolf of running the bases after the
homer. “The best part about it was our third base coach,
Matt Williams, he stood back and just kind of tipped his
cap
as I ran by.
“That was pretty cool, that was pretty special.”
Hill, though, was as excited about the cycle as he was
about the team just getting the bats going and scoring
some runs in a win.
After all, going into the game they had gone 21 innings
without scoring.
