The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly hosting quarterback Colt McCoy next week.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, there’s a good chance the visit will result in a deal to become starting QB Kyler Murray’s backup.

In four games (two starts) with the New York Giants last season, McCoy completed 40 of his 66 passes (60.6%) for 375 yards and one touchdown. He also threw an interception and was 1-1 as a starter.

McCoy, originally drafted by the Browns in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft, spent three seasons in Cleveland before being shipped off to the San Francisco 49ers in 2013.

The signal caller signed on with the Washington Football Team in 2014. In five seasons with Washington, McCoy completed 68.2% of his throws for 1,679 yards and eight touchdowns in 12 games (seven starts). He tossed seven picks.

Despite having Brett Hundley, who is an unrestricted free agent in 2021, on the roster last season, the Cardinals elected to have former CFLer Chris Streveler serve as Murray’s backup.

Coming in relief of Murray in the final game of the season last year, Streveler connected on 68.7% of his passes for 105 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also ran for 12 yards on three carries and fumbled. The Cardinals fell 18-7 to the Los Angeles Rams and missed out on the postseason at 8-8.

The Cardinals also signed Cole McDonald to a futures contract in February. McDonald entered the league as a seventh-round pick of the Tennessee Titans in the 2020 NFL Draft.

In three seasons at Hawaii, McDonald accumulated 8,032 yards, 70 touchdowns and 24 interceptions on 61.4% passing (326-of-511).
