D-backs’ Hudson headed for MRI on elbow

Daniel Hudson’s rough season took a turn for the worse in
his start Tuesday against the Braves in Atlanta.

The Diamondbacks right-hander, who was on the disabled list
earlier this season due to a shoulder impingement, left the
game with pain in his right elbow after just 1 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and five earned runs.

Hudson asked to be taken out of the game, though the D-backs did have Josh Collmenter warming up in the bullpen at the time.

The team first announced Hudson was suffering from tightness in his right forearm, but said after the game it was Hudson’s elbow that was hurt.

Hudson will fly back to Phoenix and have an MRI on Wednesday.

The D-backs are expected to add another pitcher to the roster before Wednesday night’s game. Patrick Corbin is a rumored candidate to replace Hudson, after being scratched from his start at Triple-A Reno Tuesday night.
