Jaelen Strong fell a little farther in the 2015 NFL Draft than where he was projected to land.

The former Arizona State wide receiver was picked by Houston in the third round at the No. 70 overall spot in the draft.

Ten receivers went before him:

  • Amari Cooper, Oakland Raiders, No. 4 overall
  • Kevin White, Chicago Bears, No. 7 overall
  • DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins, No. 14 overall
  • Nelson Agholor, Philadelphia Eagles, No. 20 overall
  • Breshad Perriman, Baltimore Ravens, No. 26 overall
  • Phillip Dorsett, Indianapolis Colts, No. 29 overall
  • Devin Smith, New York Jets, No. 37 overall
  • Dorial Green-Beckham, Tennessee Titans, No. 40 overall
  • Devin Funchess, Carolina Panthers, No. 41 overall (listed as tight end)
  • Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks, No. 69 overall

The 6-foot-3 former Sun Devil was widely expected to go in the late first round or early in the second.

In 2014 with ASU, the Philadelphia native posted team highs of 82 receptions, 1,165 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning a spot on ESPN’s All-America Team.

Despite falling farther than anticipated, Strong still became the first wide receiver to be drafted out of ASU since Kyle Williams went to the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round in 2010.
