No one would (or should, anyway) try and tell you Larry Fitzgerald had a great 2014.
In fact, you could argue his last three seasons have been sub-par, leading to questions about how good the 31-year-old former first-round pick still is.
The Cardinals obviously believe he still carries good value, agreeing to a two-year, $22 million contract in February, and as it turns out, the rest of the NFL is still high on him, too.
Every offseason the NFL Network releases its list of the top 100 players heading into the season, as voted on by the league’s players. And you know what? Fitzgerald came in at No. 68.
Fitzgerald, who was 38th on the list last season, is coming off a campaign in which he caught 63 passes for 784 yards and two touchdowns. But as evidenced by the video, which features testimonials from players who went up against Fitzgerald and the Cardinals last season, the veteran is about more than just the stats.
Though maybe not quite the talent he was in his prime, Fitzgerald has emerged as Arizona’s emotional leader, helping to fire up his teammates and fans in big moments.
Fitzgerald’s teammate, defensive lineman Calais Campbell, came in at No. 99 on the list.
