With Sean Miller out as the Arizona Wildcats men’s head basketball coach, he could find himself joining the NBA ranks.

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the former Wildcats coach’s immediate future plans are likely as an NBA assistant.

Wojnarowski adds that at least one team expressed interest last offseason. Miller is expected to “move in that direction” after the NBA season concludes.

Miller was fired Wednesday morning after a 12-year stint with Arizona. The university added the search for Miller’s replacement will begin immediately.

The coach had one year left on his contract.

Miller went 302-109 (.735) as the Wildcats head coach since arriving in Tucson in 2009. Miller reached three Elite Eights and won five Pac-12/10 titles during his tenure in Tucson. He was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year three times (2015, 2017-18).

Prior to his time in Arizona, Miller was the head coach at Xavier from 2004-09, going 120-47 (.719).

The dismissal comes a month after the school released the Notice of Allegations for the men’s basketball program’s NCAA recruiting violations.
