The Arizona Coyotes announced Wednesday the signing of defenseman Ty Emberson to a three-year entry-level contract that begins this season.
The 6-foot-1, 194-pound Wisconsin native will report to Arizona’s AHL-affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners.
Emberson was initially drafted by the Coyotes in the third round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
“We are very pleased to sign Ty to an entry-level contract,” Coyotes GM Bill Armstrong said in a press release. “Ty is a good two-way defenseman who can play in all situations. He is another good prospect for us, and we look forward to monitoring his development.”
Emberson, 20, recorded four goals and nine assists (13 points) to go along with six penalty minutes over the course of 31 games at Wisconsin during his junior year last season. He was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament team and was the Badgers’ team captain.
All told, the defenseman registered 9-25-34 and 69 PIM in 101 career games at Wisconsin.
Outside of playing at Wisconsin, Emberson represented the United States in the Under-17, Under-18 and Under-20 IIHF World Junior Championship in the Czech Republic.
