Despite recording his first major league double and tying the game in the ninth inning Saturday, outfielder Danny Dorn was optioned to Triple-A Reno by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The move was announced by general manager Dave Stewart following the Diamondbacks’ 6-4 loss in extra innings to the San Diego Padres.
Dorn is a 30-year-old rookie who played in 12 games for the Diamondbacks, mostly in pinch-hit situations. He went 3-for-9 with a double and two RBI in his big league stint.
The Diamondbacks said they will make a call-up prior to Sunday’s series finale, and it will likely involve a pitcher, as they have yet to announce a starter for the Mother’s Day matchup.
