Diamondbacks will host late-season doubleheader

Jul 16, 2012, 8:20 PM | Updated: 11:04 pm

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced a change to their August
23 home game against the Miami Marlins.

The game will be played a day earlier as the opener of a
split day-night doubleheader on August 22 at 12:40 p.m. The
second game will be played at 6:40 p.m., as originally
scheduled.

Despite the original date being approved by MLB, the MLB
Player’s Association and the Diamondbacks organization, the
change was made due to the D-backs being scheduled to play
23 consecutive games without an off day from August 14 to
September 5.

The day-night doubleheader will be the first ever at Chase
Field and the first in a domed or retractable roof stadium
since 2007.

Ticket-holders for the August 23 game may use those tickets
for the 12:40 p.m. game on August 22.
