Arizona State Sun Devils senior guard Holland Woods entered the transfer portal on Wednesday, likely making for a total backcourt refresh for coach Bobby Hurley’s team in 2021-22.
Woods, a local Valley product who went to Apollo High School, follows reserve guard Jaelen House into the portal. Starting guards Remy Martin and Alonzo Verge also appear set to turn pro after their senior seasons, while freshman Josh Christopher has declared for the 2021 NBA Draft.
After transferring to ASU from Portland State, Woods played in 25 games with 12 starts this past year. He shot 38% from the field, 32% from three-point range and averaged 6.7 points and 1.9 assists per game.
Woods’ decision to transfer comes as the Sun Devils have received commitments from guard transfers Jay Heath from Boston College and Marreon Jackson via Toledo.
ASU also has Ohio State transfer Luther Muhammad eligible after he sat out the 2020-21 season.
Woods joins House, forwards Taeshon Cherry and Pavlo Dziuba, plus center Chris Osten in the transfer portal. Along with the expected departures of Martin, Verge and Christopher, wing Marcus Bagley also declared for the NBA Draft but said he will keep all options open.
