Phoenix Suns forward Cam Johnson is available for Saturday’s matchup against the San Antonio Spurs after suffering a nasal fracture in practice on Friday.
Suns head coach Monty Williams wouldn’t say how Johnson got injured in practice but took responsibility for it.
“It happens in practice, it happens when you get together,” Williams said.
It’s tough luck for Johnson after just getting stitches earlier this month in a win on April 2 over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Johnson took a shot above his left eye only moments into his first shift of the game and was bleeding. He went to the locker room, got stitches and returned in the second half to score 17 points.
In 49 games this season, Johnson is averaging 9.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, shooting 44.6% from the field and 38.6% at three-point range on over five attempts a night.
Along with Cam Payne and Dario Saric, Johnson has been one of Phoenix’s most important reserves this season. Johnson has provided a solid and reliable defensive presence on the wing while also being a big threat as a shooter and finisher at the basket.
