Not too many people know how to make a better entrance than newly acquired Diamondbacks third baseman Chris Johnson.
In his first game in a Diamondbacks uniform Monday night Johnson stepped to the plate with two outs in the fifth inning and belted a grand slam, putting the Diamondbacks up 7-0 against the rival Dodgers.
“It was pretty intense last night, I was just trying to get my first hit out of the way to be honest,” Johnson told Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf Tuesday. “With the new team it felt like opening day for me last night and it ended up going out of the ballpark so that was pretty special.”
It is worth noting that Aaron Harang opted to walk Miguel Montero in order to face Johnson with the bases loaded.
Johnsons comes from the Houston Astros, who are currently last in the NL Central and 34 games below .500.
