The Arizona Coyotes announced Monday the re-signing of defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin to a one-year deal.

Per CapFriendly, Lyubushkin’s contract is worth $1.35 million.

“We are very pleased to sign Ilya to an extension,” Coyotes GM Bill Armstrong said in a press release. “He is a big, tough, reliable defenseman who gives us a physical presence on our blue line. He is also a great teammate and we look forward to having him on our roster next season.”

So far in 2021, the 27-year-old has recorded one goal (first of his career) and an assist for two points to go along with six penalty minutes in 31 games played.

Lyubushkin leads all Arizona defensemen with 77 hits. He’s also blocked 51 shots this season.

In the team’s 3-2 over the St. Louis Blues this past Saturday, the defenseman blocked a shot.

Since signing with the Coyotes as a free agent in May 2018, Lyubushkin has recorded 10 total points (one goal and nine assists) and 37 PIM in 123 career games with Arizona.

Entering play Monday morning, the Coyotes hold the final playoff spot in the West Division behind the Colorado Avalanche, Vegas Golden Knights and Minnesota Wild.

Arizona is back in action Monday night against Minnesota.
