Arizona State Sun Devils men’s basketball coach Bobby Hurley appears to have filled his assistant coach vacancies.

Per SunDevilSource.com, ASU is set to hire Kentucky’s Joel Justus and  Loyola-Chicago’s Jermaine Kimbrough.

Justus heads to Tempe after spending the last seven seasons at Kentucky. He started as the team’s director of analytics (2014-15) and was named special assistant to the head coach (2015-16) in his second season before being moved up to assistant coach (2016-21).

According to Kentucky’s website, Justus was big part in the development of 2018 first-rounder Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and also worked closely with fellow NBAers Keldon Johnson, Tyler Herro, Immanuel Quickley and Tyrese Maxey.

For his efforts, Justus was recognized in ESPN’s 40 under 40 list in May 2020, coming in at No. 25.

Kimbrough joins the Sun Devils after spending the last two seasons as an assistant to head coach Porter Moser. During his time with the Ramblers, Loyola-Chicago went 47-16, including a 26-win season this past year.

Before joining the Ramblers, Kimbrough also had stints at Wyoming, Nevada and Cleveland State.

The duo will take over for Rashon Burno and Anthony Coleman. Burno left the program to take over head-coaching duties at Northern Illinois. Coleman decided to step down to pursue a career in sports marketing/management.
