Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Kole Calhoun exited Tuesday’s game against the San Diego Padres due to a left hamstring injury

With the D-backs leading 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Calhoun singled to start the inning. After Asdrubal Cabrara struck out, up came David Peralta.

On the first pitch of the at-bat, Paddack threw a breaking ball in the dirt and Calhoun advanced to second base on the wild pitch. After another ball at a 2-0 count, Calhoun broke for third on a Paddack changeup and successfully stole it.

At first look, Calhoun didn’t even grimace or show signs that he was injured. But as Paddack prepared the fourth pitch of the at-bat. Calhoun called for time at third base and was taken out of the ball game. Upon replay, it was shown that Calhoun briefly grabbed at his left knee and hamstring area as he got up.

Calhoun clarified after the game that it was a left hamstring injury. He said he would have an MRI on Wednesday.

“Just kinda felt it as I slid into third … Just felt like that thing was going to absolutely lock up on me, so had to come out,” Calhoun said.

He was replaced by Josh Rojas, who would score on a Peralta single.

The right fielder missed the start of the season due to a torn meniscus in his right leg. Calhoun admitted Tuesday that he’s probably been putting more strain on his left leg by taking it a little easier on his right knee.

In 12 games this season, Calhoun has hit .289 with two home runs and five RBIs.
