The Phoenix Suns can end a playoff drought dating back to 2010 with a win Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
No. 2 seed Phoenix (43-18) enters the matchup a game up on No. 3 seed Los Angeles (43-20) as the teams chase the Western Conference-leading Utah Jazz.
The Clippers can also cement a playoff bid with a win on Wednesday at Phoenix Suns Arena or with a Portland Trail Blazers loss.
Even with a loss to Los Angeles, the Suns can still stamp their place as a top-six playoff seed — the seventh through 10th seeds must go through a play-in tournament to make the first round of the playoffs.
Phoenix would need the No. 9 seed San Antonio Spurs to lose to the Miami Heat as well as the No. 7 seed Trail Blazers to fall to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. Both the Spurs and Blazers are on the road.
The Suns and Clippers tip off at 7 p.m. Wednesday and will air on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
ESPN will nationally televise the pivotal matchup, as will Bally Sports Arizona Extra.
