Sure, you could read the box score and know who won, but we all know that won’t tell you everything that happened in a baseball game. So, we will give you a closer look, providing you with the analysis, quotes and notes from the D-backs’ August 29 loss to the Reds. Final score: Reds 6, Diamondbacks 2.

The Good:

The Dbacks suffered another loss at the hands of the Reds on Wednesday, getting swept on their home turf.

There were quite possibly only TWO bright spots in the entire game. Starter Patrick Corbin recorded a career high eight strikeouts and retired seven of the first eight batters he faced, as well as 16 of 18. And infielder Jake Wlmore recorded his first career RBI with a double in the fourth inning.

The Bad:

With a 6-2 loss to the Reds Wednesday, the Diamondbacks have lost a season high six straight home games and they are 4-13 in their last 17 games at Chase Field. Arizona is also now 2-12 in its last 14 home games against Cincinnati.

This six game losing streak also ties a season high and the Dbacks are three games under .500 for the first time since June 6th.

He Said It:

Manager Kirk Gibson on their upcoming schedule after playing terrible on this homestand.

“We got a real easy one tomorrow with the Dodgers and Kershaw. Nobody feels sorry for us and we don’t feel sorry for ourselves. That’s part of what we sign up for.”

Noted:

A major reason for the Diamondbacks poor homestand is their poor offense. They scored four runs or less in eight straight games at Chase Field.

Up Next:

The Diamondbacks start a four game series in Los Angeles Thursday against the Dodgers. Ian Kennedy will go against Clayton Kershaw. Kennedy owns a 11-11 record with a 4.44 ERA and Kershaw is 12-7 with a 2.84 ERA. First pitch on Thursday is slated for 7:10pm.

As for the rest of the series against the Dodgers, the Dbacks starting pitchers are scheduled as follows:

Friday: Trevor Cahill
Saturday: Tyler Skaggs
Sunday: Wade Miley
