Arizona Coyotes defenseman Aaron Ness will make his season debut for the team in the last game of the season against the San Jose Sharks Saturday, according to Craig Morgan of Coyotes Insider.

A member of the taxi squad for much of this season, Ness did not appear in a game for the Tucson Roadrunners as he has waited for an opening with the NHL club.

The 30-year-old signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Coyotes in 2019.

Ness played in 24 games for the Coyotes last season, scoring one point on one assist and had a plus/minus of one.

Prior to Arizona, he spent parts of five years with the New York Islanders and Washington Capitals.

Ness has appeared in 71 NHL games with one goal and six assists over his NHL career.

In 2008, he was named Minnesota Mr. Hockey before attending the University of Minnesota. He was selected in the second round of the 2008 NHL Draft by the Islanders.

The Coyotes have been trying some fresh faces at the season’s end.

Victor Soderstrom, a first-round pick in 2019, scored his first career NHL goal on Friday against the Sharks in just his third career game.

Jan Jenik, a third-round pick in 2018, made his NHL debut Friday, scoring a goal in the Coyotes’ win.
