When you have 2,112 of something, I’m guessing that it takes a special one of those things for it to be memorable.

Perhaps that will be the case for Albert Pujols’ first RBI as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks in his Dodger debut, which becomes No. 2,113 of his career.

In his first at-bat, Pujols hit a deep fly ball to left-center that Arizona’s Tim Locastro reeled in.

Two innings later in the bottom of the third with the D-backs down 1-0, Pujols came to the plate with runners on the corner and two outs against Madison Bumgarner.

Pujols looked at two strikes over the middle of the plate before calmly getting a piece of a cutter on the edge of the strike zone through an infield hole to score the second run of the game.

Earlier in May, the Los Angeles Angels released Pujols in the final year of his 10-year, $240 million deal.

The injury-depleted Dodgers made the addition of Pujols on Monday official and stuck him in the cleanup spot for his debut.

Pujols is one of the best players in the history of baseball. He ranks third all-time in RBIs, fifth in doubles and homers and 14th in hits. The three-time MVP is a 10-time All-Star with two Gold Gloves.
