Phoenix Suns guard Cameron Payne has been a topic of discussion early on this playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Payne made headlines in Game 1 after a scuffle with Los Angeles’ Alex Caruso and Montrezl Harrell led to his ejection.
He followed it up with a solid Game 2 performance and a notable fashion choice after the Suns’ 109-102 loss to the Lakers.

Sitting down for his postgame interview, Payne graced the media with an upside L.A. hat.
It may be the Los Angeles Dodgers’ logo, but the message is loud and clear.
Payne was called upon early and often Tuesday with starting point guard Chris Paul clearly not right from the stinger he suffered in the Suns’ Game 1 victory.
Playing a season-high 33 minutes, Payne scored 19 points on 40% shooting (42.9% from deep) to go along with three rebounds, seven assists and two blocks as he provided a spark off the bench.
He could be asked to take on an extended role in Game 3, depending on Paul’s health.
The 16-year veteran was clearly limited Tuesday night, scoring just six points and dishing out five assists in 23 minutes of work. He spent the majority of the second half on the sideline.
With the team traveling to Los Angeles on Wednesday, an update on Paul won’t come until ahead of Game 3 on Thursday.
