Shoeless Andre Iguodala channels Mike Miller on successful three-pointer

Jun 4, 2015, 8:53 PM | Updated: 8:53 pm

Two years ago, Mike Miller memorably made a three-pointer in the fourth quarter of Game 6 of the NBA Finals after losing his shoe moments before.

Miller and the Heat went on to beat the San Antonio Spurs in seven games.

On Thursday, it was Andre Iguodala’s turn.

Midway through the fourth quarter of Game 1 of the Finals, the Golden State Warriors veteran was without his left sneaker as he spotted up from the left-hand corner. With Miller watching from right behind Iguodala as part of the Cleveland Cavaliers bench, the Warriors swingman drilled the corner three to bring Golden State to within one.

The former Arizona Wildcat picked his shoe up around halfcourt after hitting the rare three. Apparently, shoeless three-pointers in the Finals are becoming a thing.

Iguodala’s long-distance bucket, part of his 15 points off the bench, was instrumental in helping Golden State force an overtime. The home team eventually prevailed 108-100.

The Warriors seem to have problems with shoes falling off. Earlier in the season, forward Marreese Speights lost his kick against the Dallas Mavericks and played on both defense and offense before even attempting to retrieve it. Stephen Curry tried to toss the sneaker to Speights, but Dallas’ Tyson Chandler made highlights by blocking it out of bounds.
