The Arizona Cardinals signed cornerback Darqueze Dennard to a one-year contract on Thursday.

Additionally, the team waived wide receiver Krishawn Hogan. The moves keep the Cardinals’ 90-man roster maxed out.

Dennard heads to the desert after spending 2020 with the Atlanta Falcons. In eight games (six starts), Dennard recorded 36 tackles, an interception and five passes defensed.

Prior to his time in Atlanta, the cornerback played six seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.

A Bengals’ first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the former Michigan State Spartan recorded 274 tackles, three interceptions, 22 passes defensed and three forced fumbles over the six years (77 games). He also returned an interception for a touchdown.

The arrival of Dennard pairs the cornerback with defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, who was Dennard’s defensive backs coach from 2014-15 in Cincinnati.

Dennard provides more depth for the Cardinals at cornerback. Outside of Byron Murphy Jr., Robert Alford and Jace Whittaker, the cornerbacks room is full of new faces.

With the departure of Patrick Peterson and Dre Kirkpatrick a free agent, the Cardinals went out and added Malcolm Butler early on this offseason.

Arizona didn’t stop there, adding Tay Gowan and Marco Wilson through the NFL Draft. The team also signed free agent Tae Hayes in May.
