ASU senior wide receiver D.J. Foster and redshirt senior safety Jordan Simone were named to the Athlon Sports All-Pac-12 preseason First Team Tuesday.
Foster, who earned first-team all-purpose honors, and Simone highlighted the 12 Sun Devils to earn all-conference honors.
Foster will be making the full-time transition to wide receiver during the 2015 season after serving as one of ASU’s feature backs in each of his previous three seasons. He is the only active player in the FBS level with more than 1,500 career rushing yards and 1,500 career receiving yards.
He was the second-leading receiver for the Sun Devils last season, catching 62 passes for 688 yards and three touchdowns while also running for more than 1,000 yards (1,081 total) for the first time in his career en route to six more touchdowns.
Simone, a former walk-on, intercepted two passes and had four tackles for a loss while finishing second on the team with 100 total tackles in a standout 2014 campaign.
Other Sun Devils named to the list include redshirt senior guard Christian Westerman (second team), sophomore defensive tackle Tashon Smallwood (second team), redshirt junior linebacker Laiu Moeakiola (second team), redshirt senior cornerback Lloyd Carrington (second team), junior kicker Zane Gonzalez (second team), sophomore running back Demario Richard (third team), senior center Nick Kelly (third team), redshirt senior guard Vi Teofilo (fourth team), senior cornerback Kweishi Brown (fourth team) and junior punter Matt Haack (fourth team).
