Another player from the University of Arizona is off the board in the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Second baseman-outfielder Scott Kingery went to the Philadelphia Phillies in the second round at No. 48 overall Monday.
The 5-foot-11 Kingery started 53 of Arizona’s 55 games in 2014, primarily playing in the outfield. His .354 batting average ranked fourth in the Pac-12, and he led the Wildcats with 19 stolen bases, 41 runs scored and 33 walks.
Kingery, who bats and throws right-handed, is a Phoenix native who attended Mountain Pointe High School in the Ahwatukee area.
The UA junior became the second player from the school to be drafted Monday. Fellow middle infielder Kevin Newman, a shortstop, went in the first round at 19th overall to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
