Break up the Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitching staff.
For the sixth consecutive game, the starting pitcher for the D-backs has lasted more than five innings, as the six innings pitched by starter Chase Anderson Wednesday was good enough to help earn the D-backs a narrow 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
Now 2-0 in his last three starts sporting a 1.48 ERA, Anderson bookends an impressive streak of outings for D-backs starters that has seen them go 5-1 over the six-game span.
Giving up two runs on seven hits versus the Angels, Anderson picked up his third win of the year, and has allowed two runs or less in eight of his last nine starts.
Though the D-backs’ offense was subdued compared to their explosive run-scoring ways this season, they still received some power from both some familiar faces and some new.
D-backs first baseman Paul Goldschmidt belted his 19th home run of the season in the first inning with his solo shot that gave the D-backs an early 1-0 lead.
Right fielder Yasmany Tomas would add to that margin in the third with an RBI triple (his first of the season), which gave Arizona a 2-0 advantage before catcher Welington Castillo stepped to the plate in the fourth.
In fourth, Castillo smashed his second home run as a D-back, a solo shot, which extended the D-backs’ lead to 3-0.
Though the Angels would get two runs off of Anderson in the fifth, that would be all the scoring the D-backs pitching staff as a whole would allow, as Arizona reliever Brad Ziegler would pick up his ninth save of the season to preserve the 3-2 victory.
Below we take a look at the D-backs win, by the numbers.
27
With his home run in the first inning, his 19th of the season, Goldschmidt has officially reached base safely in 27 straight games. That streak is the longest active streak in Major League Baseball.

.363
Finishing the game 2-for-4 with one home run, Goldschmidt also upped his season batting average to .363; good enough to lead all major league hitters.
14.2
Anderson’s scoreless inning streak was snapped at 14.2 Tuesday night before Angels catcher Chris Iannetta grounded into a double play which scored Matt Joyce to make it 3-1 in favor of the D-backs in the fifth inning. Though the streak came to an end, Anderson set a new career-high in consecutive scoreless innings pitched, surpassing his streak of 11.0 scoreless innings spanning from May 9-15.
18
Pitching six innings Tuesday, Anderson has lasted five or more innings in each of his last 18 starts. It is the longest current streak among all D-backs pitchers.
1.36
Though he’d surrender two runs before exiting the game prior to the start of the seventh inning, Anderson provided another quality start for a D-backs’ starting staff that is 5-1 in the last six games with a sparkling combined 1.36 ERA.
499
D-backs reliever Brad Ziegler notched his ninth save of the season in his 499th career appearance.
