The “Hail Murray” was one of the most exciting sport moments of 2020.

A last-second touchdown pass by Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray to wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins sent shockwaves throughout the sports world, which is why it is a candidate for “Best Play” at the 2021 ESPYS.

There are currently 16 plays up for the award, and the head-to-head voting starts Thursday. The “Hail Murray” is up against Villanova quarterback Daniel Smith’s touchdown pass in the Wildcats’ loss to Delaware in April.

One of the highlights of the 2020 NFL season, Murray’s 43-yard touchdown pass to Hopkins gave Arizona a 32-30 victory over the Buffalo Bills in Week 10.

“It’s Murray magic!” CBS’ Ian Eagle said on the television broadcast.

Just a few plays earlier, Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Josh Allen with 0:34 left to give Buffalo a 30-26 lead. The two plays marked the second time in 60 years that a game had multiple go-ahead touchdown passes in the final 40 seconds of regulation.

Murray’s miraculous throw was named the 2020 Bridgestone Clutch Play of the Year at NFL Honors in February.

Once the fan votes are tallied, the eight quarterfinalists for “Best Play” ESPY will be announced on June 21.

The final four will be revealed on June 25, and the winner will be announced on The ESPYS on July 10 beginning at 5 p.m. MST on ABC.

Fans can vote for the “Hail Murray” on ESPN’s website.
