PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks suffered another injury blow in Saturday night’s 9-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chase Field.

Catcher Carson Kelly left the game due to a fractured right wrist, the team announced via Twitter.

Kelly was hit by a 95-mph sinker from Dodgers’ starter Walker Buehler in the second inning of the contest.

“I had the initial movement, I had the strength and everything there,” Kelly said of how he was feeling after the initial hit. “Just as time went on, it kept getting worse and worse, so it felt like it was time to get it checked out.

“I toughed it out for that inning. I was throwing the ball back and that was OK. And then I tried to really gear it up to throw and that just did not feel good at all. It sucks. That’s pretty much the way to sum it up.”

The D-backs catcher was replaced behind the plate by Stephen Vogt.

This is the second injury Kelly has sustained this season after experiencing a tuft fracture in his left big toe back in May.

Kelly is slashing .260/.382/.460 to go along with eight home runs and 26 RBI on the 2021 campaign.

He will have additional images completed on his wrist.

There is no timetable currently for his recovery.
