Brandon Knight, a big off-season priority for the Phoenix Suns, will reportedly re-sign with the team.
The report from the Racine Journal-Times is as follows:
Knight, whom the Milwaukee Bucks traded to the Phoenix Suns in February in a multiple-team deal, appears on the brink of signing a lucrative long-term contract to remain with the Suns. I’ve been told by an NBA official that Knight, who’ll become a restricted free agent on July 1, will sign a five-year, $70 million contract with the Suns.
The 23-year-old Knight was acquired by the Suns at the NBA trade deadline in February. Knight was having a great season for the Milwaukee Bucks and made a case for an All-Star selection.
Knight played only 11 games for the Suns. He struggled with some injuries towards the end of the season.
The reported contract would be the same contract that Eric Bledsoe received last summer.
The dramatic change from those two negotiations is evident, as the talks between Bledsoe’s people and the Suns dragged on over the summer. If this report is true, the Suns will have a major part of their free agency business done right from the get-go.
