...

Arizona Diamondbacks fans might have to get used to hearing this — first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is on the verge of history.

The 27-year-old first baseman has extended his lead even further in the National League All-Star voting, and is about to become the first player in D-backs history to win multiple All-Star fan votes (pitchers are chosen by the All-Star managers).

Goldschmidt currently holds 7,341,683 votes, more than doubling his next-closest competitor among first basemen in Adrian Gonzalez of the Los Angeles Dodgers (3,688,928).

The 6-foot-3 first baseman would earn his third All-Star selection if voted in by Thursday’s deadline. Entering play Monday, he is batting .349 with 20 home runs and 62 RBI.

Goldschmidt is the lone Diamondbacks player listed among those receiving votes.

Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper has smashed the single-season National League All-Star voting record with 11,363,949 entering Monday.

The St. Louis Cardinals lead National League teams with three players who would start if the voting ended Monday (Jhonny Peralta, Matt Carpenter and Matt Holliday).

The Kansas City Royals lead the major leagues with five players who would start if the voting ended Monday (Salvador Perez, Omar Infante, Alcides Escobar, Alex Gordon and Lorenzo Cain).

The starting position players for the 2015 All-Star Game will be announced on July 5 at 4:30 p.m. Arizona time.

The 2015 All-Star game will be on July 14 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
