...

It was four innings of goose eggs for the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers Tuesday night, but aggressive base-running and capitalization on errors helped the D-backs earn a 4-2 win in Texas.

Both starting pitchers in this game, Robbie Ray for the D-backs and Yovani Gallardo for the Rangers, were outstanding to open the series. Gallardo was taken out in the fifth after allowing two runs to score for the Diamondbacks.

David Peralta started off the action with a triple and Paul Goldschmidt followed with stolen base after a walk. An RBI single from Jake Lamb brought them both in.

All-stars AJ Pollock and Paul Goldschmidt were responsible for the other two scores with RBI singles in the sixth and eighth, respectively.

7.2
Robbie Ray pitched 7.2 innings in this one and kept the Rangers scoreless through seven.

He ended the game with four hits, two runs, one earned, one walk and four strikeouts.

3
Jake Lamb went 3-4, including two RBI and and three hits in a game is a career-high for the third baseman. Another Jake Lamb stat in this game — one broken bat bloop.

33 1/3
Gallardo had a pretty impressive streak heading into this matchup — 28 scoreless innings pitched for the Rangers. That ended courtesy of Jake Lamb’s single in the fifth. Gallardo left the game shortly after.

13
Speaking of excellent pitching, Brad Ziegler got his 13th save of the season Tuesday, striking out three straight in the bottom of the ninth. That ties a career-high for the D-backs’ closer.

25,000
Hopefully one of many more to come from Tomas.

41-42
Once again, the Diamondbacks are one game below .500 heading into tomorrow’s match-up. This will be their 13th try at .500 since April.
