Texas hires women’s tennis coach Howard Joffe

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas hired Howard Joffe to as the new women’s tennis coach, poaching from former rival at Texas A&M.

The school announced the hire on Tuesday. Joffe led the Aggies women to NCAA top-10 finishes each of the last three seasons. He replaces Danielle Lund McNamara, who resigned June 3.

A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Joffe spent four seasons at Texas A&M, leading the Aggies to a national runner-up finish in 2013.

He also was the women’s coach at Maryland from 2010-2011 and Miami of Ohio from 2008-2009.
