A pair of Arizona State Sun Devils are getting some love from Pro Football Focus ahead of the upcoming season.

Linemen Jermayne Lole and Dohnovan West were among the 108 athletes included in Anthony Treach’s PFF Preseason All-American picks released Monday.

Coming in as a First-Team selection at interior defensive line was Lole.

Arizona State’s defense underwent a scheme tweak in 2020, which moved Lole from a versatile role that predominantly saw him on the edge to an every-down interior defender. And that paid big dividends, as expected. He was one of the 10 highest-graded Power Five defensive linemen against the run when playing defensive tackle in 2019.

That remained the case in 2020, but he was even better against the run and looked far more polished as a pass-rusher.

Only playing four games last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lole recorded 24 tackles, 5.0 for losses, 1.5 sacks, two pass deflections and a forced fumble. Despite a limited schedule in 2020, Lole still managed to rack up 18 pressures and 17 defensive stops, Treach notes.

In three seasons at ASU (27 games), Lole has tallied 122 tackles, 20 for losses, 11 sacks and eight passes defensed.

West, an All-Pac-12 First-Team selection in 2020, was pegged as an honorable mention at the guard spot.

The offensive lineman was a big part in the team’s success to run the football last season, helping ASU’s rushing attack lead the Pac-12 in average rushing yards per game (264.3) and touchdowns (16).

The Sun Devils kick off the 2021 season Sept. 2 at home against Southern Utah.
