Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley was ejected for shoving Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul heading into a timeout in the final six minutes of Phoenix’s NBA Finals-sealing win on Wednesday.

Paul had hit a three-pointer to give himself 38 points in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals when the Clippers called timeout. Paul looked at Beverley heading to the Suns’ bench and continued walking, but Beverley turned and shoved the Phoenix guard from behind.

“We knew we broke them,” Suns forward Jae Crowder said of Beverley’s push.

The Suns held a 118-92 lead at the timeout with 5:49 left in the game.

The 36-year-old Paul appeared determined to win and get to his first NBA Finals appearance in his 16-year career. He also seemed quite pleased about the ejection of Beverley, who had acted as an agitator toward the Suns and their fans all series long.

Following Beverley’s ejection, Paul earned a technical foul with just more than two minutes left in the 130-103 win by having choice words with the Clippers’ bench.

The All-NBA Second Team player finished the game with 41 points, eight assists and three steals.

Paul went 16-of-24 from the field and 7-of-8 from three-point range.
