It’s always hard to pick a side when your heart is in two places.

Especially when it comes down to a championship game or series.

Do you go for the team you rooted for growing up, or roll with your current squad?

Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt is right in the middle of the conundrum this NBA Finals due to his loyalties to both Arizona and Wisconsin.

Born 22 minutes outside of Milwaukee in Pewaukee, Watt called Wisconsin home from the get-go. He would eventually play college ball at Wisconsin before being drafted 11th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.

This offseason, Watt took his talents to Arizona, agreeing on a two-year deal with the Cardinals.

The defensive end has made it his mission to fully immerse himself into the Arizona sports scene, rocking local team gear during interviews and attending both Phoenix Mercury and Suns games.

“I’m obviously a big believer of kinda diving all in,” Watt said following voluntary OTAs in June. “We’re all in this thing together. … I’m very excited to be here and be a Cardinal and part of Arizona and try and build something special.

“I’m going to go to the Suns games, I’m going to be on board with the Suns. The Mercury, I’m excited about them and I’m excited just to be here and to be in the community.”

No matter how the Finals shake out, things could be getting a little awkward for the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Whatever you do, J.J., don’t buy a half-Suns, half-Bucks hat.
