Ever since “Suns in four” was born in the Western Conference Semifinals, Phoenix fans have had a steady mark they’ve wanted to hit throughout the rest of the NBA playoffs.
It’s become a rally cry of sorts across Arizona.
And why wouldn’t they? Adding another sweep to cap off a championship run would be an impressive feat, especially given the lack of playoff experience the young Suns had entering the postseason.
But after the Godfather of Valley sports Jerry Colangelo joined Bickley & Marotta on Thursday, “Suns in five” could start making the rounds soon enough.
“My plan is to be in Phoenix for Game 5 assuming there is a Game 5,” Colangelo said Thursday. “I’d settle for a sweep of four quite honestly. But if it’s five, I’ll be there for Saturday night.”
Jerry Colangelo told @Bickley_Marotta this afternoon that if there is a Game 5 of the #NBAFinals, he plans to be in the arena.
As a Phoenix Suns fan, what is your dream scenario: a Suns sweep or a clincher at home in Game 5 with Colangelo there?

While Colangelo would certainly like to be present for more than one NBA Finals game between the Suns and Milwaukee Bucks, he’s got national basketball matters to attend to.
Colangelo, who has been the managing director of Team USA Basketball since 2005, is in the middle of training camp for the Olympic squad.
Suns guard Devin Booker is a member of Team USA and will be joining its ranks immediately following the conclusion of the Finals. Suns point guard Chris Paul was also invited but declined to join the team.
Maybe Colangelo can give the young guard a lift if the series ends in five games.
The Suns take a 2-0 lead into Game 3 of the Finals against the Bucks on Sunday. Tip-off is 5 p.m. and all the action can be heard on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Suns Station.
