Eduardo Escobar took some time to look back on his first MLB All-Star experience, as he relished in the moment representing the Arizona Diamondbacks organization in Colorado on Tuesday.

“It’s really an indescribable moment just to be able to share the field with so many unbelievable players, as well as my family,” Escobar said through a translator on Friday. “I think it’s an amazing gift for them and myself. After so many years of being in league it’s just an unbelievable experience.”

The D-backs third basemen added that stepping onto the All-Star diamond at Coors Field felt reminiscent to the time when he first started his MLB career back in 2011.

“Everything was pretty unforgettable, but I would say that perhaps I kind of felt like I was making my debut again, when I was out there running around, taking my first at-bat.”

Escobar came into the game in the 7th inning to replace Padres’ Manny Machado at third base.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Escobar was slotted to bat second and admitted he was a bit nervous when he stepped up to the plate.

“When I took my turn up to bat I think I battled that at-bat for about nine pitches and the whole time, I felt like I was making my debut again,” the D-backs infielder said.

In his sole plate appearance, Escobar collected a base hit single for the National League.

D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said he was very happy that Escobar got to soak in the All-Star game and all the festivities in Colorado.

“For [Escobar] to say he’s nervous after 11 years, you know that he was in some pretty elite company,” Lovullo said. “And there was good reason for it. He was an All-Star and he deserved that feeling.”
