D-backs trade catcher Stephen Vogt to Braves for infielder Mason Berne

The Arizona Diamondbacks traded catcher Stephen Vogt to the Atlanta Braves for infielder Mason Berne, the team announced on Friday.
Vogt was in the midst of his second season in Arizona. He batted just .196 with six home runs and 24 RBIs in 204 at bats as the team’s back up catcher.
The 36-year-old, nine-year veteran was a two-time All Star in Oakland.
Berne, who did not play in 2020 due to minor league cancellations because of COVID-19, has three hits in 12 at bats in the FCL Rookie League this season.
He was transferred to the D-backs Rookie League squad in the ACL, following the trade.
Drafted in 2018 out of University of North Carolina Wilmington, Berne has played four years in the Braves’ Minor League system.
He hit .231 with five home runs and 27 RBIs in 75 games.
The MLB Trade Deadline is set for July 30 at 4 p.m. ET.
This year, the date was moved up due to July 31st falling on a Saturday.
