The Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday traded forward Lane Pederson to the San Jose Sharks for a 2024 fourth-round draft pick, the team announced.

Pederson, who will turn 24 years old in a week, recorded 1-2-3 with two penalty minutes (PIM) in 15 career games playing for the Coyotes. All of those came this past season.

The forward spent most of his time in the Arizona organization with the Tucson Roadrunners in the American Hockey League. His best season came in 2018-19, when he scored 23 goals to go with 24 assists in 67 games.

This past season with the Roadrunners, Pederson appeared in 16 games and posted 7-10-17 with six PIM.

Pederson went undrafted in 2017.

The most recent trade by general manager Bill Armstrong fit the trend of the first-year executive adding assets to continue a rebuild.

Before the expansion draft, the Coyotes shipped goalie Adin Hill and a 2022 seventh-rounder to the Sharks for 23-year-old goalie Josef Kořenář and a 2022 second-round choice.

Taking on Andrew Ladd’s contract from the New York Islanders that same day gave Arizona a second round pick in this year’s draft, plus a 2022 second-round pick and 2023 third-round pick.

The Coyotes then on Friday began the draft by trading defensemen Oliver Ekman-Larsson and winger Conor Garland to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a package of players, plus a 2021 first-round pick (ninth overall), a second-rounder in 2022 and seventh-rounder in 2023.

Armstrong also picked up a 2024 second-round pick, along with defensemen Anton Stralman and Vladislav Kolyachonok, in exchange for a 2023 seventh-round choice.
