The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated outfielder Ketel Marte on Saturday after the seven-year veteran missed more than a month with a strained left hamstring.
In a corresponding move, Arizona optioned infielder Andrew Young to Triple-A Reno.
Marte’s addition comes at an important time for the D-backs who yesterday moved five players to the injured list due to a COVID-19 situation.
Marte was putting together another All Star-worthy season, batting .370 with four home runs, 21 RBIs and 24 runs in 37 games before he came down with the injury.
Young has appeared in 45 games this year and is batting .228 with six home runs, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
The D-backs are in the midst of a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Arizona won the first game on Friday in extra innings.
They look to keep that momentum on Saturday as Merrill Kelly takes the mound against the Dodgers’ Mitch White.
First pitch is slated for 5:10 p.m. and can be heard on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
